The University of Maryland Alumni Association-International, Inc. (AA-I) consists of an Executive Committee made up of a representative from each USM institution and several ex-officio members from the original Executive Committee. It consists of a President, a 1st VP, a 2nd VP and an administrative officer who is appointed by the Executive Committee to manage the day to day appointments of the organization. Each officer serves a two year term and moves up consecutively. (See listing of Executive Committee). AA-I has an office located in the Elkins Building (which houses the USM administrative offices) at 3300 Metzerott Rd., Adelphi, MD 20783. The assets of AA-I are managed by the University System of Maryland Foundation and have grown to just over $3.4 million as of fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. Each year AA-I provides funds from the endowment income to support a leadership Scholarship Program and a Grant Program designed to support the educational institutions in the University System of Maryland, principally through grants to alumni organizations to encourage greater participation of alumni and through undergraduate scholarships to promote academic achievement.
Alumni Association-International, Inc. of Maryland, has three main goals:
- to provide educational opportunities
- to grow the individual school's alumni associations
- to protect the assets built up from the history of the associations.
