In July, 2016, Richard Baskas finished his first year as an Education Specialist of GED, PGED, ESL, and Spanish GED for the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons at U.S.P., Leavenworth, Kansas. He is the SHU Educational Program Developer and Coordinator for inmates who can earn program points towards their GED. He also teaches a GED Essay Writing Workshop as well as developed and also teaches a GED Math Workshop for inmates who need extra help in math and writing essays. Richard is an Ed.D. Candidate at Walden University and is currently drafting his dissertation proposal entitled Identifying Barriers to Persistence Among Military Veterans Using the G. I. Bill. He is also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, International Education Honor Society.
