DESCRIBE YOUR CAREER PATH

My experience at Salisbury with the American Cancer Society's (ACS) Relay For Life introduced me to fundraising and community development. Directly out of college I accepted a position with ACS as an income manager which provided me with a solid foundation in the non-profit world. For about 5 years, I had increasing responsibilities managing small to large scale events and programs through out Maryland. I wanted to transition into higher education so I took a position as the development director for Capitol College in Laurel, Maryland. At Capitol, I ran the development office and had a wonderful introduction to the multifaceted world of higher education fundraising. From there, I accepted a position within development at Howard Community College where I grew tremendously. My plan was to stay in higher education, but I had the unique opportunity to become part of an earth conscious start up company, Rethink Brands. The past 10 months with Rethink has been exciting to say the least. We started by launching one of the first premium waters in a container made primarily of paper and it is growing in popularity around the nation. I have had the opportunity to play a role in launching the brand in markets throughout the country and am excited to see what is in store.

MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU LEARNED WHILE ATTENDING SALISBURY UNIVERSITY

Hands down, the biggest thing I learned was to seize the day! In other words, take every opportunity and grow from it. From my time spent working at a local organization for the developmentally disabled, to my study abroad in Ecuador, to being the co-chair of Relay For Life - I am grateful for each opportunity as it shaped who I am personally and professionally.

WHAT CAMPUS ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS WERE YOU INVOLVED WITH?

Relay For Life - I helped start the first ever SU Relay For Life, Best Buddies, Ecuador Travel Abroad, assisted the President's/ Advancement office with events and Rotaract.

BEST COLLEGE MEMORY

My favorite college memory is playing Sammy the Sea gull at a golf tournament. Somewhere there are pictures of me driving a golf cart and putting on the green. Everyone loves Sammy.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SALISBURY UNIVERSITY?

I wanted to stay in Maryland and Salisbury's campus was the only campus where I felt at home. And, the beach definitely had something to do with it!

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE SALISBURY UNIVERSITY IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE AND WHY?

Beach 30 Minutes!

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT AND WHY?

My favorite vacation spot is Frisco, North Carolina. I loved being able to take Route 13 out of Salisbury straight down to the Outer Banks. I grew up vacationing in the Outer Banks and love the rugged feel of the area once you get south of Nags Head.

GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT

Bringing 3 incredible kids into the world.

WHAT IS SOMETHING PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU?

My dream is to be able to spend all day building stuff.  I enjoy taking old things and making new things out of them.  I am the guy you see who has wood pallets strapped to his car roof.  I always stop to pick up junk on the side of the road and rush home to make something out of it.

HOBBIES/OTHER INTERESTS

Coaching my kids sports teams, upcycling junk in to cool things.
